Hand Painted Buddha Eyes Tibetan Style Chest Unique Item ONE ONLY
This wonderful Tibetan style chest has been carefully handmade and decorated in Nepal. Shaped in an unusual frustum shape, the top of the chest opens up making the box perfect for storing jewellery or other precious items.
Incorporated into the wonderful hand painted decoration on this box are several elements of traditional Buddhist iconography. The front of the box depicts the famous Buddha eyes which are seen on virtually every stupa in Nepal. They symbolize the omnipotence and all seeing nature of Buddha. On either end of the box there is an endless knot symbol or Shrivatsa. The knot's interwoven lines symbolize the ceaseless continuity of existence and of Buddha's never-ending wisdom and compassion within it. Finally, atop the lid is a lotus flower or padma, which symbolizes purity of body, speech and mind. The lotus grows with its roots in mud at the bottom of a lake or pond, yet the flower sits above the water, untouched and pure.
